Tuna Salad Sandwich
Main Ingredients
- 1 can (5 oz) tuna, drained (you can use either water-packed or oil-packed tuna)
- 2-3 tablespoons mayonnaise (adjust to your preference)
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped celery
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped red onion (optional)
- 1-2 teaspoons lemon juice (adjust to taste)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Bread slices (your choice of bread, such as whole wheat, white, or multigrain)
- Lettuce leaves (optional)
- Sliced tomatoes (optional)
Directions
Prepare the Tuna Salad:
- In a mixing bowl, flake the drained tuna with a fork.
- Add mayonnaise, chopped celery, chopped red onion (if using), and lemon juice.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Mix everything together until well combined. Adjust mayo and lemon juice to achieve your desired consistency and flavor.
Assemble the Sandwich:
- Take two slices of bread.
- If desired, spread a thin layer of additional mayonnaise or mustard on the bread slices for extra flavor.
- Place a lettuce leaf on one slice of bread (this helps prevent the bread from getting soggy from the tuna salad).
- Spoon the prepared tuna salad onto the lettuce leaf.
- Optionally, add sliced tomatoes on top of the tuna salad.
- Top with the second slice of bread.
Serve:
- Cut the sandwich in half diagonally or vertically.
- Serve immediately, or wrap it in parchment paper or plastic wrap to pack for lunch.
