Shake Shak Burger

Main Ingredients

  • For the ShackSauce:

    • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
    • 1 tablespoon ketchup
    • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
    • 4 slices of dill pickles, finely chopped
    • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
    • Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
    • Salt and pepper to taste

    For the Burger:

    • 4 hamburger buns (potato buns if available)
    • 4 beef burger patties, about 1/4 lb each (preferably made from ground chuck with at least 80% lean meat)
    • Salt and pepper for seasoning
    • 4 slices of American cheese
    • Lettuce leaves
    • Sliced tomatoes
    • Sliced onions

Directions

  1. Prepare ShackSauce: In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, chopped pickles, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper. Adjust seasoning to taste. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.

  2. Cook the Patties: Season the beef patties generously with salt and pepper on both sides. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of American cheese on each patty to melt.

  3. Toast the Buns: While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the hamburger buns in a toaster or on the skillet/griddle until golden brown.

  4. Assemble the Burgers: Spread a generous amount of ShackSauce on the bottom half of each bun. Layer with lettuce leaves, sliced tomatoes, and sliced onions. Place a cheese-topped patty on each bun, then cover with the top half of the bun.

  5. Serve: Serve the Shake Shack-style burgers immediately while hot. Enjoy with your favorite side dishes like fries or onion rings.
